OUR water. OUR land. OUR communities.

At Three Point Five, we talk about how fast the world has changed—and how badly our laws have failed to keep up.

Nowhere is that clearer than Big Tech's AI data center buildout. An industry that barely existed a decade ago is now reshaping our land, water, energy grid, and democracy at breakneck speed—with no oversight, transparency, or accountability. A handful of billionaires are making decisions that affect all of us, often in complete secrecy.

The good news: Communities are fighting back and winning. More than 100 localities across 12 states have already enacted their own moratoriums.1 But Congress has yet to act. Until it does, Big Tech gets to keep moving unimpeded.

A handful of Big Tech billionaires are reshaping our economy, our environment, and our communities—without asking.

Data centers—the warehouses for the hardware that power modern computing and the "cloud"—have long been essential across various industries, enabling everything from video streaming and social media to artificial intelligence (AI). However, the current global AI "race" is prompting tech companies to expand these AI data centers at breakneck speed with no oversight, transparency, or accountability.

Unsurprisingly, regular people like you and me, Rachel, are bearing the brunt: Families losing clean water access, facing 70% utility bill hikes, and watching their land get swallowed without a say. Tribal Nations are seeing sacred sites bulldozed without Free, Prior, and Informed Consent. Non-disclosure agreements are being weaponized to silence communities before they even know a project is coming.1

When institutions fail to protect people, people rise up. Communities across the country are already demanding local and statewide moratoriums.2 But Big Tech is moving fast and often in secrecy.1 Activists need support. Communities need safeguards. Federal legislation to pause AI data center development has been introduced.3 The world has changed. Congress has to catch up, quickly.

The AI industry didn't exist at scale a decade ago. No industry should be allowed to reshape our land, our water, our grid, and our democracy faster than the public can respond. We needed safeguards in place yesterday.
